Enhanced Scanner, Log Database Connectivity Highlights New Release

TAMPA, Fla. – May 10, 2005 –AnyDoc Software, Inc., the leading provider of automated document and data capture solutions, today announced the version 4.0 release of its flagship product, OCR for AnyDoc®. OCR for AnyDoc® is an extremely powerful and effective tool for automatically extracting and processing data from virtually any type of business form, such as invoices, surveys, and registrations.

The release offers AnyDoc users new features designed to expand the software’s connectivity with other products. Perhaps the most prominent of these features is the support for TWAIN document scanner drivers, making OCR for AnyDoc® 4.0 compatible with any TWAIN-driven scanner – past, present or future – without the added expense of third-party drivers.

OCR for AnyDoc® now provides four primary methods to process a document, allowing customers to process just about any document. Now, unstructured/semi-structured (with AnyApp™ technology), structured (with templates), infrequent or new documents (with QuickApp™ technology for inline profiling) or any other document (with computer-assisted key from image) can be processed with one solution.

Another important addition to OCR for AnyDoc 4.0 is its ability to read and extract data from PDF files. Users can also output data to PDF.

Version 4.0 also includes significant enhancements to existing features. The log database was changed significantly to include a new schema and the use of ADO. With ADO, users can choose the database for their log activity – either a specific database such as Microsoft® SQL, Microsoft® Access or Oracle.

Additionally, major improvements to the quality assurance process were implemented with OCR for AnyDoc® 4.0. The QA screen now displays up to 18 images simultaneously; the documents in a batch now can be reordered with drag-and-drop simplicity; images now can be inserted to or appended from a batch, from either a scanner or files on a disk; and images can be manually identified as templates or attachments, thereby skipping these images during the identification phase. Also, additional support was implemented for Kofax VRS® and new Kodak scanner features including dual stream and grayscale image support.
